clearly done long ago

and with beads of various sizes inside

There are no holes to suggest this horse ever hung from strings

one might look at this as a package representing freedom--many hundreds of birds that evaded becoming specimens--which to me certainly makes it feel all the richer

(I do think this is at least a hundred years old.)
