I purchased her from a seller in Spain, from whom I've purchased a few other wonderful old things in the past and when I saw this little carving come available, holding heart to her chest, there was NO WAY I was going to let her get away. C. 17th century Spanish, carved wood with polychrome, with centuries of handling having worn and smoothed that wood, given the surface a sheen. Certainly it is the Madonna herself, with immaculate heart
