Certainly it is mid-century Scandinavian

it bears a strong resemblance to Californian Architectural Pottery pieces  from the 1950s and 1960s

with a hand and face in pale yellow and hair and perhaps a foot rendered in graphite) represents an angel of sorts

) a knotty old piece of wood with bark still on it

While the sale was loaded with other (mostly much larger) paintings and sculptures by him

Pretty unusual, I think they are wonderful both as images and objects, and would probably prop them just as is in a windowsill, which is how I photographed them. I believe they probably date to the 1910s or 20s. Really lovely. The slide shows a little peeling and few scratches, I think just adding to its terrific moodiness and aura! 5" x
