which I’d guess dates from the 40s or 50s

is a simple trunk-like lower half

and maybe place a magnifying glass nearby

were I think long ago broken

The sides on this one can been positioned fully upright to form a tight bowl, or angled more outwardly to accommodate whatever one might want to put in it. Perfect on the counter filled with fresh fruit or veggies, and of course ideal for fresh eggs! 12 1 2" across when flat; sides raise to 4
