The ball in cage at the end measures 5 1/2" long and each link measures about 7/8" long

the box of cards 6 1/2"x 5 7/8" x 3/4"

I've found sets in both wood and bone produced by a few different British makers in the late 19th century which came in a labeled box with printed instructions--but these are more diverse in form and more finely made

Much of that pencil appears to be scribbles

I don't have his original box to date him exactly

Pretty unusual, I think they are wonderful both as images and objects, and would probably prop them just as is in a windowsill, which is how I photographed them. I believe they probably date to the 1910s or 20s. Really lovely. Good condition, with minor spots and a tiny bit of chipping around the edges, no real matter. Changes in
