which likely dates to the 1970s or so

It may be the case that all three were once part of a larger piece

and is on a silver chain that measures approximately 20 inches in length

I do think it transcends it existence as a class assignment largely because the ornament itself is so good, and a vehicle for the use of lots of gold! Really fun to look at and fun to have around! 12" x 18". Very good condition, with some wear to the top and bottom left corners.
